My Baby Squirrel was scaled down to fit the 4″ propeller that comes with the Shooting Star in the  Rubber Band Powered Flying Machines book published by Klutz . Parts may be ordered from the Klutz site for those wishing to experiment with other small designs.

The Baby Squirrel is scaled down 4/5.5 = 72% from Darcy’s 12″ original, to 8 3/4″ span. It  will fly well in a school gym or large city park. It flies in a circle of about 15 feet diameter. It flies on a 1/16″ x 7″ office rubber band. It flies much better with a 13″ loop of 0.045″ Tan SS, lubed and stretch wound. It was designed to participate in mass launches for charity publicity events where the office rubber bands would be more readily available.
